La Partage Rule

la partage ruleLa Partage rule (literally the "sharing or dividing rule"), is one of our favourite rules in roulette. If you can find a casino that offers it, you can get the house edge down to 1.3% on even money bets (like red/black). Now some people think that the odds on roulette are not very good, and that's true if you play the 5 Number Bet on an American Roulette wheel (which we recommend that you avoid like the plague by the way), but if you can get the house edge down to 1.3%, then you are approaching games like baccarat and even blackjack- the tradtional low house edge games. You can play French roulette with La Partage rule at UK Casino Club by the way, just in case you were looking.

Here's How La Partage works. It's a French term, because you'll generally find it on French Roulette tables (head to Monte Carlo if you are not playing online, otherwise see our recommended casino below!). You can also find it on Money Back Roulette from Paddy Power which has an English table layout.

On many French Roulette tables, La Partage is offered automatically, but check the rules and payouts. If the ball lands in zero, all even-money bets are instantaneously split into 2 and half your original bet is returned. No complaints there! This brings the house edge of all even-money bets down to just 1.35%, which can make all the difference if you are playing startegies like the 1326 roulette system.

Where to play online? Head to Royal Vegas and play the French Roulette variants, which offer La Partage. You get half your stake back on even money bets when the ball lands in the zero pocket.

Martingale System and Fibonnaci System players on the even money bets are beneficiaries of this rule.

If you make an inside bet (say a Straight number bet) or a column or section bet- the La Partage no longer applies, - you will lose the bet when the ball lands in the zero pocket.

Most US casinos do not offer "La Partage", but you might be able to find it on the French tables at some of the more upmarket properties on The Strip, such as the Bellagio, the MGM Grand, The Mirage, and The Wynn. Otherwise, play online and head to the French tables.
